Not a trap door spider

[edit]

This is not a trap door spider. It's a wolf spider. --Mhohner 23:00, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To further clarify: From the eye field of the spider you can clearly see that this is a lycosid spider, likely from one of the genera with large, burrowing species, e.g. Lycosa, Hogna or Geolycosa. Hence the file name hinting towards Ctenizidae is misleading. Unfortunately the spider itself in this picture is out of focus and thus the species is hard to identify beyond the family level.
The burrow itself (and the "door") may be indeed made by a Ctenizid species, and the wolf spider has just taken over the hole as its home. --Mhohner (talk) 15:12, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
