Release of Flock 3
[edit]As stated in the TODO list: "Flock v3 was released and based on WebKit now". This is pretty hard to do right now. Camino and K-Meleon could be moved to above Mozilla/SeaMonkey but then the line connecting Firefox and Netscape spans three browsers. Alternatively, the Flock line could be moved down to below K-Meleon but then the line connecting Flock and Firefox would span two browsers. Another alternative is to make a vertical line for Flock so 2.5 stays in its current position and 3.0 is in the Webkit region. I'm not sure what the best way to do this would be, so please discuss here or make some changes to the file. -- ZanderZ (talk) 13:01, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- I do think it is better to discuss on the english wikipedia talkpage of the file since there was every discuss. To the flock problem: similar thoughts were made by me and this week I will look if I can solve this problem... Mabdul (talk) 14:01, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- maybe moving kmelon and camino between the Mozilla and the NS line and then flock could be easily adopt the webkit layout engine after epiphany. Mabdul (talk) 14:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- I started working on it. hope that tomorrow I can update the image. Mabdul 15:29, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I've moved everything around. I haven't updated Flock yet, since I can't find info on Flock 3 anywhere. Has it even been released? 3.5 exists, but 3.0? -- ZanderZ (talk) 11:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Oh well, added 3.5 anyway. There were more browsers with missing versions, so I guess it doesn't matter that much if 3.0 is added or not (if it exists). Next problem: Maxthon 3 uses both Trident as Webkit. That would mean another complete overhaul... ZanderZ (talk) 13:54, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Opera Mini 6
[edit]Small issue - there is number 5 in circle representing Opera Mini 6.
How was this timeline created?
[edit]What a beautiful timeline. Could the creator please provide some explanation of what tools were used to create and maintain it? I (and doubtless others) would be interested in creating similar graphical timelines for use on Wikipedia and other projects. —Psychonaut (talk) 10:09, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- A simple text editor and a calculator. (as you saw in the upload history, I added some versions/browsers) mabdul 12:11, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- So the whole thing is manually written SVG? If so, pity there isn't a more user-friendly way of doing it. A dedicated GUI tool for producing timelines like this would probably lead to a lot more of them being created. —Psychonaut (talk) 12:33, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes it's all manual SVG :) someone once uploaded a version edited in Illustrator and the result was a complete mess that was no longer maintainable. A GUI for making these timelines would indeed be nice! Spinal83 (talk) 16:01, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- There is a extension called timelines (or so) which is also activated at Wikipedia, but this is unuseable for such kind of timelines. mabdul 22:16, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I used it to create en:Timeline of political parties in the United Kingdom. I was thinking it might be nice to redo it in the style of this SVG, so that I could show the various splittings, mergings, and renamings of political parties over time. —Psychonaut (talk) 08:30, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

add Vivaldi browser
[edit]Hello and thank you for this work.
I suggest adding the Vivaldi browser. https://vivaldi.com/
It's a webkit-based browser by former employees or Opera who are not happy with Opera's new direct line, and rather prefer a power-user oriented browser.
bug:Engine names don't show
[edit]In the PNG rendering, the names/links of the browser engines don't show up, it just says "Based on / Layout engine s". The SVG file itself is fine, but maybe it can be changed so those show up in PNG rendering as well. --Entlantian (talk) 08:59, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
Please consider adding Pale Moon
[edit]I think it would be great if Pale Moon was added to this image. But as I am not skilled enough to do so without messing it up I will just leave the relevant info about it below and hope a more skilled user will come along and add it.
- The first publicly released version of Pale Moon was the 3.0 version (released on October 4, 2009) and the other two millstone releases wear the 25.0.0 version which was the first version to be released independent of the Firefox release schedule (released on October 10, 2014) and the 26.0.0 version (released on January 26, 2016) was the first version to use the new web browser engine Goanna instead of Geccko from which it is forked.
- Info about the history of this browser can be found here, and the release notes for all its versions can be found here and here. --Devin Murphy (talk) 04:24, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Quantum
[edit]I can't see that firefox switched from gecko to quantum, is that intended, is this an error, or do I understand this wrong? Best regards, Luke081515 19:16, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
This image lacks the most important part: a legend
[edit]What do the blobs of color mean? I don't see a legend in the article, in the description, nor the image. Or am I just blind? Habanero-tan (talk) 20:09, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Add Samsung Internet
[edit]It's one of the most widely used browsers. Akeosnhaoe (talk) 13:39, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
