Copyright
[edit]This image was created by me in Inkscape - based on an ASCII diagram from RFC 2828, pg. 12.
The IETF FAQ clarifies that RFCs are freely reproducible, however I am not sure of the exact copyright - feel free to update with more accurate information. Tule-hog (talk) 05:35, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- I think you should grant a license for your part as the creator of this SVG version of the diagram. --Geohakkeri (talk) 20:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- I put a (self-assigned) CC0 into Licensing, hopefully thats the right spot. Tule-hog (talk) 23:30, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
IETF release
[edit]The IETF trustees have explicitly approved the proposal to host this SVG:
The IETF Trust has looked into your proposal to include an image in commons.wikimedia.org for MediaWiki sites and we have no objection to the use of the image in SVG format from RFC2828. We would ask that you include an attribution with the image: "Source: IETF RFC2828." (In 2005, the Internet Society contributed RFC 2828 to the IETF Trust, so that's why the attribution should be IETF and not the Internet Society.)

- No objection to include an image in commons.wikimedia.org for MediaWiki sites is unfortunately just a {{Permission}}. Did you ask for a free license? That message hardly qualifies as one. --Geohakkeri (talk) 16:31, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for quick response. I have sent a follow-up asking for specific stipulations on the release of the SVG. Tule-hog (talk) 17:08, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
