User:Sria-72, User:Jasper Deng, User:MarioProtIV, and User:Tavantius, you've all amended this file. Please note that I've just protected this file for use on the English Wikipedia homepage. If you'd like to post another update, you need to set up a new file and a Commons admin can then transfer this to here. User:Yann, maybe you could do the honours. Why was this done without the consensus of the WikiProject team? Now it is outdated as the storm is still active and needs to be updated, and what you described just seems like an unnecessary hassle just to try and update it to the latest available BT data. Please swap it out with a satellite image instead as that seems much more representative then the track. MarioProtIV (talk) 15:53, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, while a storm is active, updates to the track should be as easy as possible, not made essentially impossible. Abzeronow (talk) 16:27, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66: I echo what others said above: using this image and preventing easy updates is asinine when you could've used any of the many satellite images that hardly need changing.--Jasper Deng (talk|meta) 17:11, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could have used a satellite image from any hurricane as they all look the same. That’s why I’ve picked the path image; you can at least see what is happening. Schwede66 17:19, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66: "all look the same" – sorry, that's complete bollocks. Especially in this basin, nearby land gives context, and each storm has its own characteristics that give them their own visual personality. One can tell Milton apart from, say, Otis, for example. The path also does not mean much to readers without the color key.--Jasper Deng (talk|meta) 17:25, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
