This painting belongs to the Louvre, whereas it has been allocated erroneously to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (which has another Penitent Magdalene). Please check the Louvre Catalogue and their webpage on this Magdalene, as well as the Wikipedia entry en:Wiki:Magdalen with the Smoking Flame. No, it's not true.This painting is from Los Angeles County Museum (see LACMA website). The Louvre has another (but very, very similar!) version (compare: Louvre website).
