Lippitts Hill Lodge Folly

[edit]

Hi Magical Monkey Man. Thanks for message. Brought back a lot of memories. This it what I know. I was staying in the Epping Forest area. At the time a guided walk took place which I joined. The walk leader guided us through the forest where he lead us to Lippitts Hill Lodge, High Beach. The walk leader knew the owner of the lodge and the gates were opened and we were allowed to explore the grounds where the folly stood . Apparently the folly was a tourist attraction in Victorian times. The lodge was once a mental asylum run by a Dr Allen where John Clare the people's poet was incarcerated. All this information is available on the net. Thanks Northmetpit Northmetpit (talk) 09:42, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
