File talk:LIGHTNING ON SINAI 2010.jpg
When as a young child I begin to draw, the spell of the face call to me.
My earliest inspiration comes at age seven, when on discovering my father's book on the great collections from the Gemaldegalerie of Berlin and Dresdin, I become enthralled by the faces in the black and white reproductions of paintings by Cranach,Caravaggio, and Rembrandt.
Also included is Vittore Carpaccio's sobering Dead Christ Being Prepared for Burial whose stirring visualization of pathos foreshadows my following the tradition of painting as acts of remembrance in which I transform the iconic images of the Pieta and the Crucifixion into archetypes to stand for the Holocaust.
