[edit]What is the source for the claim this is a picture of an engraving?
Who was the artist?
When was it created?
Where does the original art reside?
What is the full reference to the book the picture first appeared in?
William Whiston's wikipedia page, claims his translation was published in 1737. A source for that date is found in a photo at jewishVirtualLibrary reported to be a pic of a 1st edition from library of congress. publish details: London, Printed by W.Bowyer for the author: and are to be sold by John Whiston, Bookseller, at Mr. Boyle's Head: Fleetstreet 1737 (Roman Numeral MDCCXXXVII = 1737) It is unclear if the first edition printing contained the picture, as later editions sometimes do and sometimes don't.
What page/cover was the picture printed on in the book?
Unknown. Probably the title page. There are books for sale today with it on the cover, however it only shows up in the title page for old editions available in Archive.org.
