Gilan

[edit]

@4nn1l2: Hey. You are sure about this map? I see two Gilan on this map. Where Abdul Qadir Gilani was from then?--Ruwaym (talk) 18:07, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's correct. You can check the source here.
Gilan Province was contiguous [see the green part of this map], but they carved the Central Province (containing Tehran) out of Gilan and Mazandaran Provinces and Gilan got split. That being said, only the upper part is the real Gilan. The lower part, situated south of Alborz Mountains, has never been called Gillan. Administrative divisions in Iran are subpar. 4nn1l2 (talk) 09:27, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@4nn1l2: Thank you for infos. and, "Oh" i checked a lot of Iran's division maps after you said: They played with borders like It's a puzzle. / Yeah, I feel there is a relation between state type and administrate divisions in the MENA. Regionalism is not welcomed in a unitary MENA state, but a federal state looks better. So, principally We can't be not "into politics". --Ruwaym (talk) 18:07, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Playing with borders still continues. In recent years, a crazy amount of counties have been created and many villages have been promoted to cities. The administrative divisions in Iran consist of 4 tiers: 1) province [استان]; 2) county [شهرستان]; 3) district [بخش]; 4) rural district [دهستان]. This is highly bureaucratic and non-functional. In my opinion, the tiers district and rural district can be merged into one. The nature of this new tier should be derived from the current 3rd tier (بخش) but it should be called the same as the current 4th tier (دهستان). In other words, my proposal is as follows: 1) province [استان]; 2) county [شهرستان]; 3) rural distruct [دهستان].
You see my point? This is a management issue, not a political one. 4nn1l2 (talk) 06:08, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@4nn1l2: You have a great idea, and a deep view, at all أهل مكة أدرى بشِعابها. Btw I am interested to people of Iran at all - not just for Iranians, Arabs too, we have nothing only culture and history - And culturally there is a Balochistan and Khorasan, Turkmens, Azeris, and Kurds etc. Bureaucray can't changes them. But i don't know how to categorize uploaded pictures, for example can i put Category:Iranian Arabs for all people of Kish Island? or just pictures related to Kish folkore? How much i can be creative for naming: Can i make Category:Azeri people of Iran wearing traditional clothes? How about titles of Agencies pictures, Can i put a name from myself, or the Album title is matter? like i wanna upload this one or this from all that 16 useless pics so i will name that "Iranian Turkmen woman takes a selfie" or "Iranian turkmen oldman". I have no good experience in this from my homewiki, Ar. And finally, If Meh-Tas-Fa publishing under CC, so why there is not a bot for uploading? like what we do from flickr. Recently I admired how IranianState-sponsored agency websites are publishing under CC while there is not much Arabic webstie doing that, or at least not like them: full album, description and well-taken. Sometimes i search into them for pictures from Iraq too. They even cover KSA occasionally. Do you - Iranian wikipedians - encouraged them?--Ruwaym (talk) 10:18, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, I had missed your question. I don't know how some news agencies in Iran came to the conclusion to publish their content under a CC BY 4.0 license. I don't think Wikipedians pushed for it. They have most probably chosen this license to make their Google rank higher. Someone has clearly advised them to do this. Almost all of these CC news agencies are more or less related to the State (or as Iranians call it حکومت) as opposed to the Administration (or دولت). [I know that in Arabic دولت is translated into state (as in State of Israel / دولة اسرائيل), but that's not the case in Persian. And at least common people use دولت to only refer to the executive branch of the government, headed by the president.]
Regarding categorization, don't be too picky. Just add a general category and that's enough. 4nn1l2 (talk) 00:37, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bahrain

[edit]

Hello, Bahrain was part of Iran in 1956? the pdf source don't show that. --Milenioscuro (talk) 23:59, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. That's why Bahrain is in purple, the same color as the Fars-Banader Province. That being said, I don't think Bahrain was actually part of Iran at that time (de facto). The pdf map is just pushing the governmental propaganda (or maybe wishful thinking). 4nn1l2 (talk) 00:44, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I found this article: 1970 Bahraini independence survey, that solves the doubt. --Milenioscuro (talk) 22:52, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I did't realize that you were asking a question. I somehow missed the question mark. I thought that you were making a statement.
To answer your question: yes, Iran had claims about Bahrain in name only, but dropped all claims after the 1970 survey. 4nn1l2 (talk) 00:16, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
