Engine shown might actually be the D-27

[edit]

If this picture is actually from 1994, I suspect that the engine on the aircraft is actually the Progress D-27. The book Ilyushin IL-76: Russia's versatile airlifter (pages 43-45) says that the D-236T was tested on the 76529 testbed from 1987 through 1990, while the D-27 was tested on the 76529 from 1990 through 1997.

There's also another picture of the 76529 aircraft at the 1994 Farnborough Air Show showing the engine (https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1212846). The evidence isn't conclusive, but the name painted on the engine looks like it says D-27 instead of D-236. D271l (talk) 23:49, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a bit more definitive evidence. This pic (https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ru&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=https://russianplanes.net/id29888) is from Berlin instead of Farnborough, but it's from the same month (September 1994) and the same registration. The "D-27" on the side of the engine is clearly shown. D271l (talk) 06:37, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
