Date and photographer
[edit]This photograph is often confused for this photo taken by Osama's son on Nov. 8 2001. As you can see the latter includes a time-stamp which is more visible in this photograph taken the same day.
- I believe this photograph was taken in March 1997 in the cave of Tora Bora mountains of eastern Afghanistan or more likely from the background in May 1998 in a hideout near the Kandahar Airport. Please see this article by Hamid Mir which includes timeline of interviews. — አቤል ዳዊት?(Janweh64) (talk) 15:37, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Intriguing. Date of 1997-1998 is probably more accurate, as Osama bin Laden seems to be wearing camouflage clothing in 2001, which was right after the September 11 attacks, and on the eve of the American invasion, so it would make more sense for him to be dressed in camouflage, rather than soft robes. Not only that, his beard was grayer in the 2001 photos. Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 13:25, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
