The Rogerson-Murphy map of 1851 shows the Township of Germantown. The outline map currently used in this article highlights in red what is referred to in the R&M map as the "Upper Ward". The area to the immediate SE (not highlighted on the current map) is referred to as the "Borough". Presumably that's "Germantown Borough". That area corresponds to the original Germantown Village that made up the SE end of of the Germantown Tract of 1683. In addition to Germantown Village there were also Cresheim, Somerhausen, and Crefeld Villages, extending successively north to take up the remainder of the original Germantown Tract. The highlighted area corresponds to the last named three villages. The R&M map can be found at https://www.philageohistory.org/rdic-images/view-image.cfm/GHS_002.
