Identification

Hello. I agree that this looks like a Cortinarius (in the older wider sense), and in fact it looks like Cortinarius sanguineus, though I don't think it can reliably be identified at the species level just from the photo. Recently Cortinarius has been split into various smaller genera, but C. sanguineus stays in with the original name Cortinarius, so that is no problem. It certainly isn't a chanterelle.
