[edit]I'm not really sure what this thing is, but it doesn't have a CL Charger front so I doubt very much that it's a CL. The grille is VJ Charger, the tail lights appear (in the associated photo) to be from a VK or CL and the R/T badges are probably from a Dodge of some sought as the Valiant Charger R/T (which was only produced in the VH series) had R/T stickers rather than R/T badges. I propose a file name change (probably to "Chrysler VJ Valiant Charger.jpg") and a description change to account for the discrepencies. Ditto the "File:Chrysler CL Valiant Charger RT E55 (1).jpg" rear shot. GTHO (talk) 09:18, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

OK, so lets look at some sources other than the RTA.
- Gavin Farmer, Great Ideas in Motion, page 222 , states that the CL Charger had a grille which was "flanked by dual headlight units". The car in the image has a grille flanked by single headlights.
- Gavin Farmer, Great Ideas in Motion, page 222 , states that the CL Charger "was available in the solitary Charger 770 format". The image title and description states that the car is a Charger RT.
- Gavin Farmer, Great Ideas in Motion, page 423 , states that the E55 option (340 V8 engine) was offered only on VH & VJ models.
- The Charger Club of WA site states that "The CL series also saw the last of the mighty Charger, which like the previous VK range, was now just called the Chrysler Charger, not Valiant Charger". This is not actually in conflict with the previously quoted RTA site which did not mention the word "Valiant" in the model description. However the image has been titled and captioned as a "Valiant Charger".
As it stands the title / description of this vehicle is at best confusing and at worst misleading. At the very least I would suggest that that description needs to include a mention of these points of conflict. GTHO (talk) 07:10, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
- Another important point. Gavin Farmer, Great Ideas in Motion, page 222 , states that the CL Charger appeared on showroom floors in August 1976. So if the RTA records are correct in stating that it is a 1975 model, it cannot be a CL series Charger. GTHO (talk) 22:57, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
Chrysler CL Charger RT E55
[edit]I own this car. The car is an early (sold) '76 VK Charger (late '75 build). In 1973 speculation was around the production car magazines about the 340RT that was killed by the Super Car Scare of the very early 70s (why the Phase 4 Falcon didn't materialise) While subsequent info has debunked the legend of the 340RT I always wanted to own one. So this is my 'artists' impression of what could have been. 340cid with T5 transmission and EL Ford diff. The old Val steering box has been replaced with rack and pinion and there is 300mm brakes up front. The badges are from 2006 Dodge and the Daytona stripe was my idea. The car is currently in the Newcastle NSW area. The grill is indeed a VK grill and the car has all of the 770 trimmings of the day. Extras are: SAAS racing seats with custom upholstery, central locking, blue tooth, HUD speedo, SatNav, Cruise control. She is a pleasure to drive.
