This photo of "The Performer", a self-portrait painted to accompany the artist's images of "The German Girl" was taken by the Cuban photographer Herman Puig in the artist's studio in Vincennes, France in October 1994. It was placed on an ad page in Artforum in November 1995 to announce the artist's solo exhibition The German Girl Nude at Galeria Magdalena Baxeras, Barcelona, Spain, December 15-29, 1995.
