Description

Српски / srpski: Zgrada Banovine je smeštena na desnoj obali Nišave, nedaleko od ulaza u Tvrđavu. Izgrađena je 1889. godine za potrebe Načelništva Niškog okruga i osim svoje arhitektonske lepote, ima i značajnu ulogu u istoriji Niša i Srbije .

Na početku I svetskog rata od 26. jula 1914. do 16.oktobra 1915.godine Niš je bio „ratna prestonica Srbije“ i u ovoj zgradi se nalazilo sedište Srpske vlade i Ministarstva inostranih poslova. U utorak 28. jula 1914. ovde je stigla zvanična objava rata Srbiji od Austrougarske , na način jedinstven u diplomatskim odnosima– putem telegrama. Telegram je primio predsednik Srpske vlade Nikola Pašić.

U ovoj zgradi je i 4.septembra 1914.godine potpisan „Sporazum između Srbije i Albanije“ poznatiji kao „Niški sporazum“ koju je potpisao Esad paša Toptani i Nikola Pašić a podrazumevao je zajedničku odbranu, carinu i zajedničko predstavljanje u inostranstvu. Sporazum je bio veoma značajan za Srbiju u zimu 1915, kada se srpska vojska povlačila kroz Albaniju.

Druga faza dogradnje započela ja 1930.godine kada je Niš postao sedište Moravske banovine, da bi konačno 1935.godine zgrada dobila današnji izgled. Nakon II svetskog rata u njoj se nalazilo sedište Sreza, a od 1966.godine sedište Univerziteta.
