22 ONIOXS-^Continued. / Campbell's White Dutch Onions for Bunching-—Ready for the market two or three weeks earlier thai the set onion. Sown in the spring the same as the ordinary onion seed, and is cultivated the same as the ordinary onion. ^ Early in August pull and cut off the root and about one half of the top, then trans- plant the same as ordinary onion sets and leave them in the ground all winter. The fol- lowing spring they are ready for the market as soon as the frost is out of the ground. They do not form a bulb, but multiply and in many cases one multiplier in the fall will make one bunch in the spring. ~—•* For winter use plant in hot bed in August and cover with glass before frost, andi fine ^ bunching onions will be produced all winter. Pkt. lOc; oz. 40c.; % lb. $1.25.; lb. $4.00." Large Red Wethersfield. This medium early variety is the most profitable red onion for market gardeners' use. Some markets require a red onion. Extra Selected Improved Yellow Globe Danvers. / Large White Portugal or Silverskin. Best white onion for bunching: usea chiefly by market gardeners and truckers. Bottoms early, making it a very profitable variety, very mild, of excel- lent flavor. Pkt. loc.; oz. 15c.; % lb. 75c.; lb. $2.50. -Burpee's Australian Brown Onion—This is the earliest ripening variety, producing large bulbs. The bulbs are quite thick thr<^ugh; skin deep reddish brown; flesh white, tinted with purplish pink; sweet and mild. It is the most profitable to grow f. r market, as well as for home use, because it can be kept in the best condition through the winter without difficulty. The bulbs have been kept in fine condition for more than a year after harvest- / ing. Pkt. sc.; oz. 20C.; X lb. 6oc.; lb.; $1.75.
