Summary
[edit]DescriptionYork Racecourse - Geograph-6522297-by-Nigel-Thompson.jpg |
English: York Racecourse / Holgate Bridge railway station (site), York Opened in 1860 by the North Eastern Railway as an overflow for York station (beyond Holgate Bridge in the middle distance) on race days, these platforms are believed to have closed in 1939. The platforms were also known as Holgate Excursion Platforms. View north towards York. The platform on the left has been completely removed. The one on the right is now just a slight mound. There used to be an attractive garden here with flowers planted within the letters of "York". When this image was taken, it had been reduced to painted concrete. |
