From : Alan Stanton, councillor Tottenham Hale ward To : Haringey Urban Environment Department Sent : Sunday, February 08, 2009 8:13 AM Subject: Pile of cans & bottles on railway embankment, St Loy's Road N17

Please see two photos I took on 30 January and posted on Flickr. They show the pavement and wall on the north side of St Loy's Road N17 near the railway bridge. The pile of dumped cans, bottles and other debris was on the mud above the wall. I assume this land is part of the embankment owned by Network Rail.

It’s not a new problem. I raised it in: ■ December 2007 and ■ September 2008.

Can I please ask - if not already done - that someone checks the land ownership. Then speaks to Network Rail (or the landowner) to arrange for this area to be monitored and detritus cleared regularly. Or for legal notices to be served if the owner won’t take action.

At the same time, can further thought be given to prevention. In July 2008 there was a joint operation between Haringey Council and the Police to deal with a number of problems in St Loy's Road and Moorefield Road (adjoining). (1) (2) This included groups of street drinkers outside a social club.

If this is still happening, I assume the railway embankment is seen as a convenient place to sling empty cans, bottles and other rubbish.
