The accompanying plaque translates to "STELA 15 OF YAXCHILAN - Mayan culture - Late Classic Period - Description: Bas relief from Yaxchilan, Chiapas depicting a chief luxuriously dressed with a spear in one hand and in the other he grabs a captive by the hair. The inscribed Mayan date corresponds to the year 681 of our era."
