Description
English: Xenoliths are pieces of rock that have fallen from the walls or roof of a cooling magma chamber, or have become entrained in rising masses of magma ("xeno" means "foreign" and "lith" means "rock"). Xenoliths can occur in intrusive igneous rocks or extrusive igneous rocks (= volcanic lava).

Geologic unit: Cadillac Mountain Granite, Silurian-Devonian boundary times, 419 Ma [a 365 Ma date has also been published]

Locality: Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert Island, Maine, USA
