Deutsch: Friedrich I. (geb. 1371, gest. 1440, ab 1415 Kurfürst von Brandenburg)
Der erste Hohenzollern in Mark Brandenburg Friedrich heiratete 1401 Elisabeth von Bayern Landshut, mit der er zehn Kinder hatte. Friedrich, der letzte Burggraf von Nürnberg, stammte aus der schwäbischen Adelsfamilie der Hohenzollern. Diese hatten sich durch kluge Heiratspolitik an das regierende Königshaus Luxemburg gebunden, das um 1400 auch in der Mark Brandenburg herrschte. Die Luxemburger wollten aber nicht in „des Heiligen Römischen Reiches Streusandbüchse“ residieren. In der faktisch unregierten Mark Brandenburg walteten Unordnung und Gewalt. Die Adelsfamilien befehdeten sich untereinander und rebellierten gegen die Landesherren, das Raubrittertum blühte. Mit dem Erzbischof von Magdeburg als Allianzpartner rang Friedrich im königlichen Auftrag den aufsässigen märkischen Adel nieder. Die „faule Grete“, eine bronzene Riesenkanone, die 170 kg schwere Steinkugeln verschoss, half Friedrich, den Widerstand zu brechen. Als Dank für seine treuen Dienste erhielt er von König Sigismund am 30. April 1415 auf dem Konstanzer Konzil die erbliche Würde des Markgrafen und Kurfürsten von Brandenburg verliehen. Friedrich I. war nun der erste Kurfürst von Brandenburg aus dem Hause Hohenzollern. Friedrich selbst verbrachte allerdings nur wenige Jahre in der Mark Brandenburg. Seine geistreiche und willensstarke Frau Elisabeth, im Volksmund „die schöne Eis“ genannt, vertrat ihn in der Mark und in den fränkischen Stammlanden. Friedrich I. starb am 20. September 1440 auf der fränkischen Cadolzburg. |
