English: Caption: "Through the good offices of Sweden, an arrangement has been concluded between Germany and Russia by which the severely wounded soldiers imprisoned in these two countries who are crippled for life, are exchanged via Sweden. The exchange station is at Tornea on the gulf of Bothnia where the Russian and Swedish frontiers meet. At regular intervals Russian and German nurses arrive here their wounded charges. The Swedish nurses aid the work by taking charge of the cripples while the exchange is being effected. The picture at the top shows the German prisoners leaving the hospital at Tornea after their exchange, to cross over into Sweden. The lower photograph shows the Russian war prisoners leaving the train to go to the hospital." |
