Description

On 15 December 1978 the new international terminal at Auckland Airport was officially opened by the Prime Minister, Robert Muldoon. Other speakers at the opening, which was held in the passenger arrival area, included the chairman of the Auckland Regional Authority, the Ministers of Works and of Transport, and the Mayor of Manukau.

An exhibition was mounted to celebrate the new terminal. “This exhibition illustrates the diversity of the Ministry of Works and Development’s contribution to create a dimension of serenity and pleasure that is New Zealand, and a rich and lasting experience of welcome and farewell for those who pass through.”
