Description
English: Wooden groyne and pebbles. Groynes are wooden or stone constructions built into the sea in order to stop sand and pebbles from being moved by the tide waters and hence to stabilise and protect the beach. They also help > 677470. Wooden groynes are no longer being made. When the tide is out it is often possible to have a closer look at the groynes that are partially submerged at high tide. Here pebbles have become lodged in the gaps between the planks.
