Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wooden footbridge near Quainton The wooden footbridge and path marks the line of the Wotton Tramway which opened in 1870 and ran from Quainton Road station to the village of Brill, a distance of six and a quarter miles. Later known as the Brill Tramway, and then the Brill branch of the Metropolitan & Great Central Joint Railway, the line was transferred to London Underground in 1933. This most unlikely outpost of Metroland was closed in 1935. The trackbed runs alongside much of the length of the C road to the left, which comes from the A41, 1/2km behind the camera, and goes to Quainton Road station, 1km further up the road.
