Summary
[edit]DescriptionWindy Knoll Cave - geograph.org.uk - 188034.jpg |
English: Windy Knoll Cave. This cave is close to Mam Nick car park and lies within designated Access Land. The sign reads "Windy Knoll Cave - Danger - Please do not enter. Part of the cave entrance collapsed during snow melt in February [2006]. It has been inspected by geologists, and work will be required before access is allowed. The swallows though seem to be enjoying the peace and quiet, if you have a moment look out for them flying in and out of the cave." (There were indeed swallows going in and out.) According to the booklet Caves and Karst of the Peak District (BCRA Cave Studies Series No. 3), Windy Knoll Cave is "an ancient, relict cave apparently uncovered by quarrying." |
