| Description |
English: Wind Turbines, Solutia, Newport The two 2.5 megawatt wind turbines are on the south side of Solutia's Traston Road site. Installed in October 2009, they are the area's first commercial wind turbines. One tower has a height of 130 metres (about 425 feet) and the other one is 120 metres high.
The turbines will generate ten gigawatt hours of electricity per year, about one third of the sites electricity needs. The turbines should significantly reduce Solutia's carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide emissions. |
