Peculiar of Canford Magna, Poole ; the Court of the Peculiarof Corfe Castle; the Court of the Royal Peculiar of MiltonAbbas ; the Court of the Peculiar of Sturminster Marshall; andthe Court of the Peculiar of Wimborne Minster. Another Calendar of inestimable value to the countrygenerally, published in the same series, is that of the AVillsproved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, 1383-1558, andnow stored at Somerset House. As not only the name of thetestator is given, but also his residence, his rank, the date ofthe Probate, and also a list of various places in which propertydevised is situate, it will at once be seen that this Calendaris of interest to many besides genealogists. The old spellingof place-names has judiciously been retained, and this will proveof assistance to the student of the etymology of place-names.Wiltshire names abound. This Calendar has been prepared byMr. J. C. Challenor Smith of the Probate Registry, SomersetHouse, and is the result of many years labour.
