Summary
[edit]DescriptionWilliamsville House.jpg |
English: Williamsville survives as a placename from the ascent to the British throne of William of orange.
Robert Ware (1639 – 1697) son of the historian and MP Sir James Ware inherited his considerable land holdings in Dubber. After his return from exile during the reign of catholic monarch king James II of England he paid tribute to King William by renaming the family manor. The circumstances of names in Finglas commemorating British kings (Johnstown, Jamestown, and Charlestown) are explained by 19th century historian Eugene O'Curry.Gaeilge: Maireann “Williamsville” mar logainm ón t-am Liam, Prionsa de Oráiste.
Fuair Robert Ware (mac an staraí agus an MP Sir James Ware) eastát mhór i Dubber. Chun ceiliúradh deireadh réimeas rí Caitliceach Séamas II rinne sé athainmniú ar an theach. Míníonn Eugene O'Curry stair ainmneacha i bhFionnghlas atá ag comóradh ríthe na Breataine (“Johnstown”, “Jamestown”, agus “Charlestown”). |
