Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The William C. Kennedy House, 610 Potomac Avenue, Buffalo, New York, October 2020. A fine example of Queen Anne architecture dating to 1897 - approximately the zenith of the style's popularity - the outstanding features on the Kennedy House are the Palladian window dominating the façade of the front gable, topped by a narrow keystone and sporting Gothic-style intersecting tracery in the central window and festoon carvings above the two side windows. Engaged Doric pilasters are another stylistic trope that makes frequent appearances here, interspersed between windowpanes both on the aforementioned Palladian window as well as the twin bay windows on the second floor, as well as in pairs on the ground floor framing the entrance. The initial owner was Irish-born oil company executive William C. Kennedy, about whom little biographical information is available; he apparently lived there until 1905.
