1.1 - 1.20: downsampling & ordered dithering (GIMP v2.8);
2.3 - 2.5: decoloring (custom and indexed palette tools);
3.16 - 3.17: decoloring (statistics or via IrfanView v4);
3.5 - 3.9: edge detections (custom or any blurring tool);
Management of masks and layers: any modern raster editor,
even scriptable or via shell commands (e.g. ImageMagick).
