| Description |
English: View of the Whitford wharf on the Turanga Creek, 1897. The Clevedon Steam Navigation Company's two passenger boats, the SS Planet and the SS Hirere are tied up at the wharf. On 18 January 1897 the well-appointed Hirere made her maiden voyage on the company's regular service between Auckland, Howick, the Turanga Creek (Whitford) and Clevedon. Soon afterwards the SS Planet was taken off the run.
