my stay at Brockway was during the lastweek of July and the first week of August,when the fishing was said to be poor at thevarious places on the lake, and yet my catchwith the rod was better than the averagecatch with the deep trolls and sufficient innumber to satisfy any one but a fish hog.My last years observations came to this:That when the fish are biting plentifully,deep trolling will produce the greater catch,and that when the fish are biting but poorlyfor deep trolling, surface trolling in theshallower waters is about as efficient—al-ways providing that one knows where to goand how to fish. caught four, and this about 4 p. m., an hourat which I had not heretofore been success-ful.
