Text Appearing Before Image:
r two dollars byputting a sack of bread on his shoulder andone foot before the other. Some put theiroutfits on burros and busy themselves witha club when not in camp. Others go bywagon and camp in a new place every night,or find pasturage for the team while estab-lished in a main camp. Jolting along all dayover rough, dusty roads, and campingwherever night overtakes the team, (that isgenerally overloaded), is not so bad as itsounds, when the party has all summer for avacation; but where only two, or at mostfour weeks can be spared, it is easier andmore economical to board the train withwhat is necessary as baggage, and get intocamp at once wherever it is most desirableand convenient according to the party. AtSummit Valley we found no trouble in get-ting our outfit taken from the station intocamp, and such supplies as bread, (as goodas can be baked) fresh meat, milk and butter—in fact anything wanted—were obtainedat most reasonable rates at the hotel. Text Appearing After Image:
MY CHURCH. I WAKE before the faint flush reds the east.Wide open throw my casement to themorn,And in the great cathedral of the worldLook up to God, forgetful of mans scorn. The scent of flowers like incense fills th.3breeze;The ancient stars my waxen tapers are;The murmuring leaves speak countless holyprayersThat unto highest heaven speed afar. This is my church, my place of holy prayer; Here conscience plies her ever-ready rod; Here do I worship, here I know and feel The presence and the glory of my God.—Thomas Maitland Marshall.
