Description Gay symbols near Westerkerk in Amsterdam.
On the left, two interlocking Venus symbols. In modern science, the singular symbol for the planet Venus is used to represent the female sex. The double-Venus represents a lesbian, or the lesbian community in general.
On the right, two interlocking Mars symbols. The singular symbol for the planet Mars is used to represent the male sex. The double-Mars represents a gay male, or the gay male community in general.
The "double-Venus" and "double-Mars" are presented in the rainbow colors of the Pride flag.
