Summary
[edit]DescriptionWest Bowling St Stephen (29).JPG |
The font in St Stephen's Church, Newton Street, West Bowling, Bradford, England. This is a late 19th-century octagonal font of small size, carved from Derbyshire alabaster by an unknown sculptor. It has no evangelists' symbols, and no engraved writing on it. Showing relief sculpture of Tree of Life. The church was designed by Mallinson and Healey, and consecrated in 1860. The original full-sized Caen-stone font of 1860, carved by Catherine Mawer, is no longer visible in the church. That font had the four Evangelists' symbols around the sides, and a quotation from Romans 8:14 around the foot. |
