| Description |
They are scrubbing their dishes and washing. Having shiny dishes (if they are metal) is a hallmark of cleanliness and respect (particularly so as they cook on wood fires which makes them sooty). Polygamy is common so wives often compete for the cleanest dishes. They bathe and there is ceremonial cleaning that takes place after funerals, etc. here as well. Also, everyone carried around a brand new toothbrush almost as a fashion accessory. |
