English: Sailors from USS Wasp (LHD 1), USS Gettysburg (CG 64), USS San Jasinto (CG 56), USS Dewert (FFG 45), USS Dallas (SSN 700), and USCGC Bernard C. Webber (WPC 1101) salute during the playing of the national anthem while at a Damage Control Olympics event at the Resolve Maritime Academy during Navy Week Port Everglades April 26. Wasp is in Port Everglades April 25-30 to celebrate Navy Week Port Everglades - a bicentennial of the War of 1812 commemorative event. Overall 3,000 sailors and Marines, six ships from the United States are involved in the Navy Week events. The commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 is a salute to all sailors and Marines who fought gallantly in that conflict, who have served in out nations' conflicts since then, and who are defending freedom around the world today. |
