English: The arms show the eagle of the Tom Brok family. The lower part of the arms show the short buckets derived from the arms of Klaus Störtebeker. Since 1396 Marienhafe was a refuge for the “Vitalienbrüder”, a religious group, whose leader was Klaus Störtebeker. The anchor symbolises the free access to the harbour under protection of the tom Brok family. |
