Description
Deutsch: Das Waldhaus auf dem Telegrafenberg (Potsdam), eine eisenfreie Holzkonstruktion mit einem Sockel aus äußerst schwer magnetisierbarem Trias-Sandstein, wurde am 1. Januar 1897 als Absoluthaus zur Messung der absoluten Intensität des Erdmagnetfeldes in Betrieb genommen. Es gehörte zum Geomagnetischen Observatorium Potsdam, das der Geophysiker Adolf Schmidt von 1902 bis 1928 leitete. Heute dient das Waldhaus der Palöomagnetik, deren magnetische Messungen zur Altersbestimmung von Gesteinen genutzt werden.
