English: Details on a Waffen-SS uniform as worn by a Norwegian volunteer (Frontkjemper) serving as Untersturmführer in World War II:
Waffen-SS was the military branch of the Nazi Party's SS (Schutzstaffel) organisation. Its formations included men from Nazi Germany, along with volunteers and conscripts from both occupied and unoccupied countries. Waffen-SS wore a variation of the field-grey (grey-green) (feldgrau) army uniform with SS insignia. The majority of SS personnel wore a variation of the Waffen-SS uniform or the grey-green SS service tunic. Exhibits on display at Hjemmefrontmuseet Rakkestad, a local museum in Rakkestad, Norway, focusing on the war in German occupied Norway 1940 – 1945. |
