Bouwjaar 1863 Vele duizenden werklieden gingen, generaties lang van vader op zoon, langs deze poort naar hun werk. De mensen hadden tot taak de marineschepen uit te rusten en te onderhouden. Dit gebeurde in de dokken en de vele werkplaatsen op het haventerrein.
