kunststof, hout, metaal, leer, papier datering 1938-1941 Koffer van Léon Albertus Alexander Cohen, geboren Amsterdam 21 november 1898. In 1943 kwam hij in doorgangskamp Westerbork en werd administrateur bij de Ordedienst van de stafbarakken. Ondanks zijn positie in het kamp werd hij gewaardeerd door de medekampbewoners. Op 12 april 1945 werd Léon Cohen samen met 900 medegedetineerden bevrijd uit Westerbork.foto gemaakt tijdens WLANL foto workshop op 1 juni in het Joods Historisch Museum, Amsterdam English: Suitcase of Léon Albertus Alexander Cohen, born in Amsterdam 21 November 1898. In 1943 he came to Camp Westerbork, in the north of the Netherlands. Jews, Roma and Sinti were detained in Camp Westerbork till their deportation to the Nazi concentration camps. Léon Cohen became administrator of the baracks of the staff. Despite his position in the camp he was appreciated by his fellow camp dwellers. On 12 April 1945 Léon Cohen was freed from Westerbork together with 900 other detainees. |
