Summary
[edit]DescriptionVulcan Building, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth - geograph.org.uk - 493179.jpg |
English: Vulcan Building, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth Built in 1814 as a naval storehouse, the clock tower and north wing were burnt out in the blitz of 1941. It then lay vacant for fity years until restored by Berkeley Festival Waterfront Company as part of the Portsmouth Harbour Millennium Project. It is now partly residential and partly a public building the use of which is not yet fully decided. http://www.aspex.org.uk/about/vulcan_history.htm
The blue building behind, just going up, is Number 1 Gunwharf Quays which, although nice enough in itself, rather spoils the outline of the Vulcan building. |
