Scène de vente à bord d'un navire nantais : la "Marie-Séraphique"

Certaines ventes se déroulent à bord, comme c'est le cas ici. Cependant, l'image reproduite est des plus fantaisistes. Il est invraisemblable que Européens et captifs africains aient entretenu des relations aussi cordiales que celles représentées sur cette aquarelle. En 1772, le navire nantais la "Marie-Séraphique" transporte 340 hommes, femmes et enfants depuis l'Afrique jusqu'à la ville du Cap-Français.
