Français : Vue de la Grande Allée en direction est « Voici la vue qu’avaient ceux qui descendaient la Grande Allée en cet hiver typique. À gauche s’élève le parlement, dont on aperçoit une partie de l’aile Saint-Louis construite entre 1877 et 1879. L’édifice massif au centre de la photo retient l’attention: le Quebec Skating Rink, érigé en 1877 au nord de la Grande Allée, longe les fortifications. Cette patinoire intérieure, déménagée au sud de cette rue en 1889 et rebâtie complètement en 1891, sera le témoin en 1912 et en 1913 de la victoire des Bulldogs de Québec, qui remporteront alors la coupe Stanley. À côté, la porte Saint-Louis, de style château, remplace à partir de 1878 la vieille porte démolie en 1871. La Grande Allée, élargie en 1886, devient une rue prestigieuse où hommes politiques et riches bourgeois de Québec se font construire de luxueuses résidences. Quelques-unes s’élèvent à droite.
