Située à l’entrée de la ville et en bordure de la lagune de Porto - Novo, la Paroisse Cathédrale reste la plus belle Eglise de la ville de par son architecture et aussi à cause de l’opportunité d’accueil offerte à tout voyageur provenant de Cotonou. Constituée de plus de vingt cinq (25) quartiers, la Paroisse Cathédrale, reste le cœur politique de la ville - capitale politique du Bénin et siège de hautes institutions politiques – juridiques – militaires et paramilitaires. Elle n’a toutefois pas l’exclusivité absolue de religiosité. Toutes les grandes religions et cultes du Bénin y sont représentés, prédisposant alors la Paroisse Cathédrale à de nombreux défis d’évangélisation dont le défi d’inculturation - le défi de dialogue interreligieux pour la construction d’une société de justice et de paix où la dignité humaine - la liberté religieuse - et le bien commun sont respectés et promus. Érigée en 1864, la cathédrale depuis 2014 est en jubilé des 150 ans de son évangélisation.
