Ελληνικά: Τα φυσικά αμυντικά γεωμορφολογικά χαρακτηριστικά της θέσης όπου αναπτύχθηκε ο μυκηναϊκός οικισμός της Βού- ντενης, σε συνδυασμό με το εύφορο έδαφος, τις καλές κλιματολογικές συνθήκες και τη δυνατότητα επικοινωνίας με άλλες μυκηναϊκές εγκαταστάσεις της περιοχής, έπαιξαν σημαντικό ρόλο για τη διαχρονική κατοίκηση της περιο- χής από τα μεσοελλαδικά έως και τα ύστερα ρωμαϊκά χρόνια. Ο οικισμός, χτισμένος πάνω σε πλάτωμα που οι ψηλές και απότομες πλαγιές του εξασφάλιζαν φυσική οχύρωση και περιβαλλόμενος από γόνιμες καλλιεργήσιμες εκτάσεις που αρδεύονταν με τα άφθονα νερά των γειτονικών ποταμών Μαργαρίτας και Μειλίχου, καθώς και υδρευόμενος από τις πλούσιες φυσικές πηγές της περιοχής, διέθετε όλες τις βασικές προϋποθέσεις που ήταν απαραίτητες για μακρό- χρόνη επιβίωση μιας εγκατάστασης κατά τη μυκηναϊκή περίοδο. Κατά τις δοκιμαστικές ανασκαφικές τομές που διενεργήθηκαν στον οικισμό αποκαλύφθηκαν θεμέλια σπιτιών με αυλές και χαλικόστρωτους διαδρόμους που διαρθρώνονται με κατεύθυνση ΒΔ .- ΝΑ. Τα θεμέλια των σπιτιών ήταν χτισμένα από αργολιθοδομή και η ανωδομή τους από ωμόπλινθους, που με την πάροδο των ετών καταστράφηκαν είτε λόγω των αρόσεων είτε λόγω των καιρικών συνθηκών. Αν και η έρευνα στον οικισμό δεν έχει ολοκληρωθεί, από τα αποκαλυφθέντα δομικά κατάλοιπα άλλα χρονολογούνται στη μυκηναϊκή (1450-1000 π.Χ.) και άλλα στην αρχαϊκή περίοδο (600 π.Χ.).
English: The natural defensive features of the settlement site at Voundeni, combined with fertile soils, favorable climatic conditions and the ease of communication with other Mycenaean sites in the region, have contributed to the long-lasting occupation of the settlement that goes as far back as the Middle Helladic period (19th c. BC) and ends in the Late Roman period (3rd c. AD).
The settlement was built on a naturally protected plateau and was surrounded by fertile arable land, irrigated by the nearby streams called Margarita and Meilichos, while watering for the settlers was provided by a series of perennial springs. All these were assets that guaranteed that occupation of the site lasted throughout the Mycenaean period.
Excavation trenches dug here have revealed remains of houses, sometimes with courtyards and gravel-paved passages, oriented along the NW-SE axis. The house foundations were built with dry masonry, using lay stones, while the walls were built with mud-bricks. The latter were gradually destroyed as a result both of plowing as well as weathering. Although research in the settlement has not yet been concluded, the house remains that have come to light date either to the Mycenaean (1450-1000 BC) or to the Archaic period (ca. 600 BC).Licensing
