Français : L'ascension vers l'Empyrée (Ascesa all'empireo)

L'Empyrée est la partie du Ciel, la plus élevée, où les Anciens croyaient que résidaient les Dieux. Un des quatre panneaux des Visions de l'Au-delà Hieronymus Bosch (Jérôme Bosch) (1450-1516) entre 1500 et 1503 Huile sur toile Musée du Palazzo Grimani www.palazzogrimani.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/grimani...

Les Grimani furent d'importants collectionneurs d’oeuvres d’art, pas seulement vénitiennes mais aussi nord-européennes. Parmi celles-ci se trouve l'un des chefs-d’oeuvre de Hieronymous Bosch, le polyptique Visions de l’Au-delà composé de 4 panneaux : la chute des damnés; l'Enfer; le Paradis terrestre; l'Ascension vers l’Empyrée), acheté aux débuts du XVI siècle par le cardinal Domenico Grimani, qui aimait beaucoup l’art flamand. '

Le tunnel lumineux de ce tableau est souvent évoqué pour illustrer des propos sur les visions qu'auraient des personnes sortant du coma.
